Hooves of sandy tropic colour, white stockings that climbed past the fetlock, reaching, gradually, up towards her knees. A dark spray beyond, a gradient to red, to brown, to gold. Taught ropes of muscle threading through the shoulder into the withers, kissing the slight curve of her neck. This was the order in which Osheen looked at the light bay mare, with her expressive, inquisitive eyes, and kind breathing. There wasn’t much savage about her. Passionate, maybe, but contained, almost. Zip. A short name. Short like her heavy gallop and loud feet, like the length of her back and the span of her grudges.
He clicked his tongue, brought himself closer to her flank. Outlined the shape of her hip with his index finger. The animal turned her finely made head towards him, nostrils flaring, unflaring, calling for food, maybe. “You be good, I’ll see you in ten.” Said the Irishman, touching the tip of her nose and backing out of the temporary stall.
Osheen had always insisted on tacking up his own horses, despite time constraints and such. He found the head tossing and the challenge, the light scolding and relieved “good girl” by the end of it to be a good source of bonding with them. And so he did, quickly. Brush, switch, brush, switch, brush, comb. Ear gear, bridle, pad, saddle, girth, pull. He eyed the whip that was propped up against the wall. He always brought it, but never ended up using it. Tradition, or something.
And then they were out. Him, swung into the saddle and she under it, treading ungracefully on the earth.
Beastess pushed past the entrance, pressing, onwards, towards the jumps. A half halt, a turn. Her ears flittered, muscles trembled with excitement. She was ready.

Entry for 2015 Totally Thoroughbred Open Show
Alright SO I thought this was in a sand arena cause it looked like they had one on the map and that would have been the logical place to hold this show but I may have been wrong lmao.
Anyway yeah so here we have Zip and Osheen trying not to screw up. Nice. reaaaally hope we get ranked despite background mishaps
